Donations

We love donations! Donations of gently used books, CDs, DVDs, and movies are greatly appreciated. You can drop off donated items at any library during the open hours (see hours and locations.) The Friends of YDL will sort them and sell them in the Friends Shop and at book sales. All proceeds from donations will go to support library programs and services!

Donation guidelines

Because the Friends are a volunteer-based group with limited hours, donations are limited to 10 containers per person.

If you have more than 10 containers, please leave your name and number with a library staff member, and one of our volunteers will visit you to assess the donation.

Please note that the Friends cannot accept the following items:

  • Magazines
  • Encyclopedias
  • Textbooks more than five years old
  • Reader's Digest Condensed books
  • Computer books more than five years old
  • Books with covers torn off. (Hardbound books without dust jackets are accepted.)
  • Moldy, wet, or mildewed books
  • Books with missing pages
