Planning for our Community
A Message from the Director
The Ypsilanti District Library’s three-year Strategic Plan 2011 – 2014 represents another milestone in the Library’s strategic planning process. This plan builds on the goals achieved through the implementation of the library’s 2007 – 2010 Strategic Plan. In that earlier plan, we successfully strengthened the excellent library services that our community has come to expect. This was accomplished through the creation of a website which acts as YDL’s “virtual branch,” the expansion of service hours, the opening of Primo’s Coffee Shop at YDL-Whittaker Road, the installation of after-hours lockers which offer patrons convenient pick-up of library materials, and the establishing an interim library location in Superior Township.
The planning process for 2011- 2014 has a strong internal focus which will assure that the Library remain current and relevant for our patrons. Comprehensive capital and maintenance plans for library buildings, an aggressive technology plan, and a fund development plan will help us continue to be good stewards of public resources in a time of challenging economic times.
As always, we appreciate our patrons who support us and challenge us to be a vital and innovative resource for the Ypsilanti community!
