Planning for our Community: 2017-2022
The Ypsilanti District Library is embarking on a strategic planning process for a five-year plan that will cover the years 2017-2022. YDL has engaged The Ivy Group, a nationally-known firm that specializes in strategic planning, facilities planning, branding, and marketing for libraries. The planning process will include a phone survey of district residents, interviews with community leaders, and public engagement. A strategic planning committee consisting of YDL board members, staff, and community members has convened and will contribute to the development of the plan, which will be released in late 2016.
Previous Strategic Plan: 2011-2014
The planning process for 2011- 2014 had a strong internal focus, building a strong foundation to ensure that the Library remains current and relevant for our patrons. The plan included comprehensive capital and maintenance plans for library buildings, an aggressive technology plan, and a fund development plan will help us continue to be good stewards of public resources in a time of challenging economic times.
Previous Strategic Plan: 2007-2010
In the 2007-2010 strategic plan, YDL successfully strengthened the excellent library services that our community has come to expect. This was accomplished through the creation of a website which acts as YDL’s “virtual branch,” the expansion of service hours, the opening of a Coffee Shop at YDL-Whittaker Road, the installation of after-hours lockers which offer patrons convenient pick-up of library materials, and the establishment of an interim library location in Superior Township.
