Strategic Plan 2007-2010
Planning for our Community A Message from the Director
The Board and staff of the Ypsilanti District Library are pleased to share with you our strategic plan for 2007-2010. This plan is a dynamic tool that we will use to guide our decision making over the next three years.
Library patrons and members of the broader community informed all the stages of the planning process, ensuring that these goals and strategies align with our community’s needs and values.
In the first six months of this plan we have already taken action to ensure that we meet our goals of increased access and convenience.
- A convenient interim branch library located in Superior Township
- After hours pick up of materials
- Expanded hours of operation
- Robust, speedy internet service
What else do we look forward to bringing to our community? Imagine the library in three years offering:
- A coffee shop at YDL-Whittaker
- Email reminders of books that are due, programs you might love and new materials that match your interest
- A dedicated teen space at each YDL facility
- A website that acts as a ‘virtual branch’ helping residents access the library without leaving home
- Library services accessible to the many residents who are not able to visit our facilities via a fully loaded bookmobile
These service initiatives will become realities over the next three years.
To learn more about how we developed this plan and to review the full set of goals and strategies, please access the Strategic Plan Executive Summary. Also available are the national studies of trends in library services that we used to inform our planning process.
We are pleased to dedicate ourselves to enriching our shared life as a community.
