Volunteers at the Ypsilanti District Library provide an important service by assisting the library in its mission.

The library does not accept volunteers through any court-ordered program.

Friends of the Ypsilanti District Library

The Friends of the Ypsilanti District Library are always looking for volunteers. Opportunities include:

Volunteering at YDL

Ideal volunteers will be able to commit to helping at the library for several months. Volunteers must be ages 18 and over. If you are interested, please complete our Volunteer Application form and submit it to:

Karen Esper, Administrative Receptionist
5577 Whittaker Road

Event Volunteers

In addition, YDL occasionally looks for volunteers to provide extra hands at our biggest programs. These events happen 2-3 times per year and are typically held on Saturdays. Examples of this type of work may include:

  • Operating an activity station
  • Helping prepare craft supplies

To be notified of upcoming events that need volunteers, please join our email list and check the “volunteer” box.

Teen Volunteers

Teens ages 14-18 can earn volunteer hours by participating in the Teen Advisory Group (TAG). TAG members plan programs for teens, run art and music workshops, and occasionally help with programs for younger kids. Being part of TAG is a great way to build your résumé, meet new people, and help your community!

To join TAG, fill out the Teen Advisory Group interest form.
