  • Books-On-Wheels

Books-on-Wheels is a customized home delivery service provided by the Ypsilanti District Library. Presently, approximately twenty-five library patrons who are unable to get to the library receive material delivered to their homes.

We are not just about books . . . movies, audible books, and magazines can be requested. One long-time patron said, "It is such a privilege to have a library that delivers books and other items to my home." If you or someone you know would like to apply for this convenient and timely service, please call the Outreach/Community Relations Department at (734) 482-4110 ext. 1359 and ask to speak to Ellie.
  • Senior Deposit Collections

The Ypsilanti District Library offers services to senior citizen centers, and residences within our service district, serving individuals who find it difficult to visit the library. The deposit collection provides an opportunity for our seniors to read and enjoy books at their own locations. The adult services staff selects a variety of large print books to meet the needs of the individuals at these sites. The materials chosen include popular fiction, romance, mystery, and western, as well as a broad range of nonfiction topics including health and aging.

Currently these locations host YDL deposit collections: Gilbert Residence and Nursing Center, Towne Center, Senior Citizens Recreation Center, Ypsilanti Township Senior Center, Chidester Place, Superior Woods, the Village, Cross Street Village, and Brown Chapel Silver Club program. Books are rotated periodically to keep the collections new and exciting. There is no charge for this service, and information may be obtained by calling the Outreach/Community Relations department at (734) 482 4110 x 1359
  • After-hours Materials Pick-up

Now your library materials can be waiting for you in a secure locker located at any Ypsilanti District Library location: YDL-Whittaker Road, YDL-Michigan Avenue, or YDL-Superior. It’s easy to use. When you call or visit any YDL location, let the staff know you want your materials available after-hours in the lockers at a specific YDL location. You’ll need the last seven digits of the barcode number on your library card to use this system. To retrieve your materials at the locker after hours, simply enter the last seven digits into the keypad, hit “enter” and the door to your locker pops open. It’s easy and convenient! Lockers are safe and secure. The system will only open your locker when your library barcode digits are entered.

  • Inter-Library Loan Services at YDL

For the convenience of our patrons, the Ypsilanti District Library is able to borrow items that we don't have in our collection from other libraries. If you don't find the item you are looking for in our online catalog, you may ask at any public service desk at YDL-Whittaker, YDL-Michigan, YDL-Superior, or YDL-Bookmobile to have us try to obtain the material for you from another library. In the past we have received books and other library materials from libraries in every state and even from some other countries! There is no charge to patrons for this service if materials are returned on time and in good condition.

If YDL doesn't have the material you are looking for, please ask!
