Each summer we challenge everyone to read, learn, and explore the community. You can earn online badges and chances to win themed prize baskets filled with goodies from local businesses.

Stop by any library in June to sign up, or create an online account. Participants between the ages of 3-18 get a free day pass to Rutherford Pool just for signing up!

Sign up for the Summer Challenge from June 1-August 31.

How it works

Set your own goal for how much you want to read and track your progress online. Everyone who reads or listens to at least six books earns a small prize, and youth get to pick a book to keep.

Come learn at library programs and earn special digital badges. Attend a series of programs in the same category such as STEM or Art and level up to earn digital trophies. Earn badges in many categories and win the Jack of All Trades badge.

Take challenges created by library staff that encourage you to get to know library services and the Ypsilanti community–visit a local park, use a Michigan Activity Pass, try out a library eResource, or attend a First Fridays event downtown! Each challenge earns a different digital badge.

Not only does each digital badge earn another chance at a prize, but families can engage in fun learning activities together so youth keep their brains active and ready to return to school in the fall.
