Hola مرحبا Здравствуйте
Adults can find books in more than a dozen languages at YDL, and we recently expanded multilingual offerings for kids and teens as well. The youth and young adult sections have added picture books, early readers, non-fiction and young adult literature that cater to native speakers and language learners alike. Look for the new “world languages” sections in the Youth and Young adult areas at YDL-Whittaker.
As they add new books, Youth Librarians are focused on the languages spoken most at homes in our area: Arabic, Spanish, and Russian.
Parents looking to help their children learn about languages and cultures can also explore World Language Storytime. Offered on the first Saturday of every month, each session features a different language. A native speaker reads a book as a librarian interprets the story in English. Parents and children also learn songs and basic vocabulary, and create a craft project that reflects the culture.
If you would like to read a story in your native language, share your home culture with other families, or suggest materials for the collection, please contact Jodi Krahnke at firstname.lastname@example.org
