If you live in our service area and the recent closures around the community are inspiring you to check us out for the first time, welcome! You can get all of the basic information about applying for a library card (including non-resident cards) on our website. Since our building is closed, we’re working hard to provide these services remotely. To secure a card during the closure, email the following to firstname.lastname@example.org:
- A scan or picture of a completed YDL card application along with a scan or picture of your valid photo ID
- If you aren’t able to print or fill out the application, please send a clear picture of the front and back of your drivers license, along with your email address and phone number
- If your current address in our service area is not visible on your ID, please also include a picture of a piece of mail with your name and address
We will send you your library card number, and you can use it to access all of our digital materials using the last four digits of your phone number as your account pin. The cards will be valid until the end of May, and your physical YDL library card will be held at the Whittaker location to be picked-up once we reopen. A photo ID will be required to pick-up the card and the account expiration date will be extended for the full term at that time.
We can renew existing accounts, regardless of expiration date, until the end of May. These patrons will need to visit any YDL location after we reopen with an ID showing their current address in our service area to renew for the full term. Just email your card number and picture of your photo ID to email@example.com.
If you have lost your card and don’t know your YDL account number, you can send a photo of your ID and we can check to make sure you are current in our system. Upon confirmation, we can send you the account number. We’ll renew the account, if needed, till the end of May, and, as above, you can stop by any YDL location once we reopen with their photo ID to replace your physical card.
