READING

During this period of social distancing, librarians have been working behind the scenes to increase our eBook and eAudiobook collections for readers of all ages and to curate themed Best on Hoopla lists to help you navigate the website. Have a request? You can still use our online form to tell us what you want us to add to the collection!

If you need help finding your PIN number, downloading an app, or setting up your account to use Overdrive/Libby, Hoopla, or RB Digital Magazines, don’t hesitate to contact us. We can give you the information you need by phone or email.

Want to read reviews to decide what to read next? You can read the latest issue of BookPage online. And some publishers are offering some or all of their eBooks free through midsummer.

Readers of all ages can sign up for YDL’s Spring Challenge and log the books you read until May 22 to earn digital badges and prizes when the library reopens.

Visit our Little Ones page for new Virtual Storytimes each week, and our Teacher page for a longer list of Educational Resources for Parents and Teachers.

WRITING

YpsiWrites has services and prompts to keep writers of all ages engaged during this stressful time.

826michigan also has two challenges to help students keep their writing skills honed.

  • Check in on Mondays to hear the latest challenge from Dr. Blotch, submit your writing on Thursdays, see everyone’s work on Fridays.
  • Check in on Tuesdays for Lunch Poem prompts, then meet up virtually on Fridays to read and listen to other writers!
