With COVID-19 putting regular activities on hold for the summer, YDL is here to help. We’ve listed a few ways you and your family can make the most of this season, while remaining safe at this time.

Stay Up to Date

While quarantine restrictions are lifting, it is still important to stay informed on the latest coronavirus updates. Our COVID Page connects you to resources both inside and outside of YDL during the pandemic.

Learn about our curbside service, local food pantries, and where to receive financial assistance.

Keep track of COVID cases locally through Washtenaw County’s website, and nationally through the CDC’s website. These sites also list various safety precautions to use at this time.

Tackle a New Skill

Whether you want to learn a new language, try a different recipe, or find a new job, our digital collection has you covered! Our Research Database has resources that can help you learn anything from fixing a car, to completing a resume.

You can also find useful ebooks through Hoopla and OneDrive.

Kids can learn a new language with Muzzy, which uses fun cartoons and interactive games to immerse kids in 7 languages.

Take Care of Your Mental Health

It’s tough to process the rapidly changing current events we’re facing. That’s why we’ve gathered a list of free resources focused on mental health care, including a support hotline.

The #wishyouknew Mental Health Campaign encourages local teens and young adults to share their mental struggles and lessen the stigma. Follow them on Instagram to add to the conversation.

Express Yourself

Staying at home over the summer is the perfect time to perfect your craft. Write what you’re feeling with YpsiWrite’s journaling prompts & activities. For kids, 826Michigan is offering writing labs and challenges.

Teens can draw, paint, learn photography, and more through our Get Creative summer learning series, and get their work posted on Instagram.

Music lover? Join Guitar Club online every other Saturday. Call 734-879-1318 and leave a message to register.

Be sure to check out virtual programs for LNGO crafts, comic book drawing, and more!

Go On a Virtual Vacation

Get the traveling experience you miss without leaving the house. We’ve accumulated a list of sites that provide an online exploration of their institutions through videos, images, and more.

Sites include the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Detroit Zoo, and a 360 virtual tour of five national parks.

You can also experience the world through this book list.

Let Your Voice Be Heard

To elevate the conversation surrounding race relations and police brutality, YDL has put together some educational resources to share.

This summer, we have a virtual Town Hall discussion series to help families build anti-racism skills. Share your story and learn something new while listening to local activists and educators.

We’ve created lists of books, movies, and activities for all ages to help elevate the conversation and promote learning.

Read, Read, and Read!

Reading can take you on new adventures. Our catalog and digital collections have books covering any and all of your interests!
