Safely Talk About Race & Racism: Screening “Whose Vote Counts, Explained”

Sunday, June 20 | 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

This series screens films that provide the needed opportunity to safely engage and understand the ways racism has functioned historically and continues to work in the present. This month’s documentary will be Netflix’s Whose Vote Counts, Explained.  The right to vote is at the foundation of America’s democracy. But not every vote is created equal. How does the system work, and can it be fixed?  In three short films, this docuseries will explore voter suppression, campaign finance, gerrymandering, electoral collage and how the system can be fixed. La’Ron Williams, local storyteller and peace activist, will facilitate an open, honest discussion about race and racism.
