After Superior Township voted to join the library district in 2006, YDL opened a “temporary” location in the fire station at MacArthur and Harris. While originally, the library planned to open a larger, permanent location in the next 3-5 years, the economic downturn in 2008 sank those hopes. After a successful millage in 2018 for operating funding, YDL started the process of planning the new location. Superior Township provided land and is in the process of adding street lighting to Harris Road and a path on Geddes to enhance non-motorized transportation options to the library. 

This building was designed by Daniels & Zermack Architects. The lead architect, Dan Whisler, was also the lead on the Whittaker Road Library.
