We love telling people about the library! Invite a library representative to visit your class, group, workplace, or event.

Bookmobile Visits

Schedule our library-on-wheels to visit your school. We will work with a group of classrooms to arrange a bookmobile visit where students hear a book read aloud, and browse for their own. Please arrange Bookmobile visits as early as possible—at least one month in advance

Book Trike

Our smaller, more portable library-on-wheels carries up to 60 books that can be checked out! The Book Trike is a great addition to outdoor events and makes an appearance at the Ypsilanti Farmer’s Market on Tuesdays all summer long.

Event Tables

Invite us to open houses, special events, and parent nights to talk about library services, sign people up for library cards, and encourage reading and learning at home. We can also incorporate a hands-on craft or activity to add an interactive element to your event.

Classroom Visits

Book talks about the hottest new titles, details about fun learning activities in our Summer Challenge, and demonstrations on how to use the library’s online resources for projects—these are just a few examples of topics we can cover with your students.

Community/Organization Events

If your organization is having a jazz festival or Family Fun Day, the Outreach Team is very much committed to representing the library. If you would like the library to be at your event, please complete the request form!  We are committed to the Ypsilanti, Ypsilanti Township, and Superior Township communities.  If it is a Washtenaw County community event we will consider it as well.  We do ask that you submit your request a month in advance.

Staff Meetings

Have 5 or 10 minutes to spare in a staff meeting? We will stop by and give your staff more information about specific services that are relevant to your staff or the people you serve. We discuss specific ways the library might support your organization’s goals and what library programs might be relevant to the students or clients you serve.

For organizations or businesses in the library district, including all Ypsilanti and Lincoln schools, all employees are eligible for a library card—let us tell your staff about the unexpected benefits of a YDL card!
