GCFLearnFree.org offers free tutorials for the beginner or intermediate learner in technology basicsMicrosoft Office, computer basics, Internet basics, socialGCFLearnFree media, reading, math and everyday life skills.

Self-Paced Tutorials

GCFLearnFree.org is mostly comprised of self-paced tutorials providing a variety of learning approaches with text, information graphics, interactives, and videos. These self-paced tutorials are available when you are, on your schedule. You do not have to create an account or sigh in; you can start learning immediately. If you really want to learn a topic in depth, you can start with the first lesson and work your way through the entire tutorial. If you only require a quick answer, just view the applicable lesson.

Online Class Program

In addition, the site offers online classes in Microsoft Office and computer basics. Upon successful completion of class requirements, learners earn an accredited Continuing Education Unit and Certificate of Completion (still all for free). You can take up to three weeks to complete the requirements for the class.

The Online Class Program includes:

  • Real instructors to offer help and guidance
  • A private messaging system that allows you to interact with your instructor
  • Quizzes to test your knowledge and make sure you’re getting the most out of your class
  • A streamlined class experience with an easy-to-follow, interactive to-do list to guide you through every step of the class

GCFLearnFree Account

You do not have to create an account or sigh in; you can start learning immediately. However, if you create an account, the self-paced tutorials you view while signed in will be tracked in your learning history. If you complete an entire tutorial, you will earn an Achievement of Completion Certificate. Within your account, you can see where you were last, how many tutorials you have completed, and download and print your Achievement of Completion Certificate. This is great for anyone who wants to track their learning or show proof that they’ve completed tutorials.

Mobile Apps

If learning at a desk isn’t your thing, then there is a suite of mobile apps covering Microsoft Office, vocabulary and math. These apps are available for iPhone/iPad, Android, and Kindle devices.

With more than 2,000 different lessons covering more than 160 topics, 800+ videos, and 55+ interactives and games, GCFLearnFree.org is a great free resource for learning new skills.
