new library construction progress

Since our last update, we’ve seen exciting progress in the construction of the new library. The sanitary sewer line has been installed. Water mains have been installed, pressure tested, and chlorinated. Our construction crew is awaiting a permit to connect to the county drain. Crews are installing underground plumbing for the building at this time.

Electrical work has begun with the connecting of the light pole bases. We are in the queue for a full electrical hookup with DTE, predicted to be in about eight weeks.  Masons have installed block around much of the building’s perimeter.  The drive and parking lot are well-defined, and the shape of the building is emerging!

Keep your eyes peeled for an exciting opportunity to help  make the new library everything the community wants it to be. The Next Chapter Campaign will launch a $100,000 matching challenge on October 1, funded by a generous local foundation donor. Visit ypsilibrary.org/nextchapter for details. We appreciate your support!
