We are very excited, as construction of the new Superior building is now 35% complete, over a third of the way done! Construction crews have been able to keep working despite cold weather and snow. Structural masonry work is finished, the heating and cooling unit is in place, and gas and power are available. You can see the many dramatic angles to the roof, which give the building flair. Roof sheathing is nearly done.

Crews are currently in the process of defrosting the building pad. They will enclose the structure so the interior can be heated as work continues. When the weather warms up,  they’ll install shingles and begin work on the exterior facade.

We have an exciting new addition to the project to announce: solar power! The solar installation will reduce energy costs and serve as an educational tool for visitors. The Library and our construction manager selected Nova Consultants to install the 47 KW array. The solar installation will happen concurrently with the finishing of the roof.

The Next Chapter Capital Campaign challenge continues. We are over three-fourths of the way to meeting the $100,000 goal. Thanks to a generous local foundation, every dollar donated up to $100,000 will be matched. Make your contribution at ypsilibrary.org/nextchapter.
