In the last month, the roof has been completed and crews are making fast progress on interior work. The concrete slab has been poured. The subceiling insulation is mostly in place, and drywall is being installed. The walls are being framed and windows are being fabricated.

We were delighted to welcome major donors and stakeholders into the space for a behind-the scenes Hard Hat Party during National Library Week. Attendees signed walls and posed with vests and hard hats to celebrate the progress of the new library.

In the coming weeks, crews will begin installation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Exterior façade work will begin, and you’ll start to see noticeable changes to the outside of the building. The expansion project of Harris Road is slated to begin in June.

The Next Chapter Capital Campaign is in the final stretch. After successfully completing the $100,000 match challenge, we have $238,000 to raise to meet our final $2 million goal. Help make the new library everything the community wants and needs by giving today at ypsilibrary.org/nextchapter.

If you have questions or feedback about the new library, please contact Library Director Lisa Hoenig at 734-879-1300 or lisa@ypsilibrary.org.
