With a grant from Molina Healthcare of Michigan, YDL is expanding programming to help seniors stay active and engaged this summer. Molina’s $5,000 of support is helping YDL add our new “Moving Together” series for seniors to the Summer Challenge.
“Providing our seniors with expanded resources that help them stay active and engaged, we can reinforce the significance of YDL as a place they can build community,” said YDL Paraprofessional Susana Adame-Goff. “They’re meeting new friends, trying new things, and building a new relationship with themselves and their health.”
The Moving Together series will feature fun events or seniors, like cornhole, Bingo, and special health and art classes to boost physical, mental, and emotional health, and help promote camaraderie.
“Lifelong learning and helping seniors move together is a way they can push back against loneliness,” Adame-Goff said. “It will boost their physical, mental, and emotional health together in community and out of isolation.”
