FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY

The Board of Trustees recognizes the “Friends of the Ypsilanti District Library”, “Friends” as the official support organization for the library.

The Friends has the authority and responsibility to raise funds for library purposes, to fund millage and bond issue campaigns, to advocate for the library, and volunteer time and service to enhance the library environment.

The Board of Trustees recognizes its responsibility to keep the Friends informed of Board decisions, and therefore designates either a Board member, the Director or the Director’s designee to attend Friends’ Board meetings and report on library activities, and to advise the Friends.

Although library employees shall not be expected, while working, to assume responsibilities for Friends activities, a cooperative and helpful attitude will be expected of all employees.
