About Fines & Charges

You will not be charged a daily late fine on overdue items. However, past fees for lost or damaged items will still apply. You are still responsible for returning your items. We will send reminders to let you know if something becomes overdue. Materials that are 28 days overdue are assumed lost and the cardholder must either return the item or pay the replacement cost.

LOST ITEMS

If an item is not returned by six weeks after its due date, the item will be considered lost, and the full retail price of the item will be charged to the account holder. Lost items that have been charged to an account may be returned up to six months past the due date. No replacement items will be accepted.

If a lost item is found after the item has been paid for, it may be returned up to six months of the original due date, at which time a refund check will be issued for the amount paid.

If an interlibrary loan item obtained through the MeLCat system becomes lost, the owning library will determine the cost for this item. Once the cost of a lost MeLCat item has been charged to a library account, it may not be returned.

DAMAGED ITEMS

If an item becomes damaged, the full retail price of the item will be charged to the account holder. No replacement items will be accepted.

If an interlibrary loan item gotten through the MeL system becomes damaged the owning library will determine the cost for this item. Once the cost is determined, it will be charged to your YDL account. No replacement items will be accepted.
