This is part of a series of updates about the new YDL library that will be constructed on North Harris Road in Superior Township. Find more information and updates about the project at ypsilibrary.org/newlibrary

What progress has been made?

Over the last month, survey work has been completed, and the Architect and Construction Manager are working together to create a more detailed budget estimate and complete the schematic design.Drone picture over Superior Library

  • A staff committee reviewed public input and made recommendations based on comments received through in-person sessions, social media, website submissions, and communications with the Library Director.
  • The topographical and boundary surveys have been completed
  • The wetlands delineation has been completed. No wetlands were identified on the site.
  • The Library released a Request for Proposal for a Geotechnical Investigation and Report. After reviewing four submissions, the Board of Trustees awarded the contract to G2 Consulting Group.
  • The Library’s Architect, Daniels and Zermack, held a kick-off meeting with O’Neal Construction.
How do I give input?

Feedback sessions were held January 8 and 9, where patrons reviewed the concept plans and offered comments. Additional comments were accepted online until January 31. Our staff and architects are considering these comments and the revised plans will be posted when they are available.

If you have questions or feedback about the new library, please contact Library Director Lisa Hoenig at 734-879-1300 or [email protected].

What’s next?

You will start to see construction equipment on the site. A bulldozer will clear some areas of the site so G2 Consulting Group can take soil borings in multiple locations. Meanwhile, O’Neal Construction is working on their detailed budget estimate and the design team is completing the schematic design.
