May is Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month.

We are excited to recognize the cultural identities and historical influence of the Asian/Pacific Americans in our community.

We have books and other resources that highlight this rich culture, whether you want a mirror that reflects your experience, or a window to see something new!

Explore Different Backgrounds Through Literature

In our efforts to try and meet the moments that keep coming, we’ve added content to our Race Relations page to help better represent the Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders living in the U.S. This includes:

  • #OwnVoices works by Asian American and West Asian authors
  • Picture Books by Asian American authors
  • An anti-racism book list put together by the Teen Advisory Group (TAG)
  • An interactive guide on diverse children’s literature

Take a Virtual Trip to a Different Country

Have you checked out our Around the World series? In our commitment to #OwnVoices, we asked people with connections to another country (whether roots, family ties, or they still live there!) to make videos telling us what they love about that place.

Fit for all ages, this series allows you to sightsee, make art, and meet people from around the world without leaving your house! We owe a profound thank you to everyone who took the time to introduce us to somewhere that has meant the world to them.

Learn how to write in Japanese, play traditional Korean games, and more.

Be on the lookout for future countries to be added on the Around the World page.
