We missed you at our Garden Gathering this week!
This week’s Garden Gathering was about healthy habits. If you couldn’t make it this week you can still participate at home! This was our last Garden Gathering event for the summer.
Healthy Habit Making

Meet Sarah Stone, a nutritional educator from Healthy Habits Start Now, a program run by the Livingston Educational Service Agency. Sarah came to talk to us about the importance of healthy habits in our everyday lives! She also brought along several books about fruits and veggies to read while we were in the garden.

These are the books Sarah Stone brought along for her presentation. Click on the book cover to find out where you can get it at YDL.

Last Year’s Reading

This video is the reading that Sarah Stone did for us last year. Watch as she reads Chicks & Salsa and answer the questions at the end to help you understand what you just read.

Activities for Home

Look in your fridge and pick out a few different fruits and veggies. With adult supervision, cut open each fruit and veggie and observe what they look like on the inside.

Did you know that if it has seeds and comes from the flower of a plant, then it’s considered to be a fruit? For example, a pumpkin is actually a fruit! Take a look at the food below and determine if it’s a fruit or veggie.

Try and guess if the food below is a fruit or a veggie! Mouse over it to see the answer and explanation.
