Slime has been marketed to kids since the introduction of silly putty in the 1950s. Its unique consistency creates a sensory experience that is hard to duplicate. So it is not a surprise that the library has been making slime and similar concoctions with kids for years, including during an upcoming Library Lab. However, I did find the trend of adults making slime surprising. Slime tutorials were huge on YouTube and Pinterest in 2017. Adults find playing with slime therapeutic. Making with Maker Cart

What is a Maker Cart? YDL-Whittaker has added a new afterschool activity for kids. It is called the Maker Cart. The Maker Cart is available from 2pm to 4pm on 2nd and 4th Mondays, 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, and 2nd Saturdays. That is five days of making each month.  What is Making? YDL thinks of “making” as an opportunity for kids to create at their own pace. Anyone using the maker cart is encouraged to explore the possibilities of different materials.
