Now, secret codes aren’t just something you find, you can create them too! Join in on the fun by picking up a Summer Challenge Yard Sign at the youth reference desk of any YDL branch. Place it in your yard, and your very own code will become part of the community yard sign scavenger hunt.
Here’s how it works:
- Grab a sign at your local YDL branch.
- Choose your code. It can be anything! Think about favorite books, hobbies, games, or something silly and fun. Write your word or phrase with a bold marker so people can see the code from afar.
- Activate it! Click the “yard Sign Scavenger Hunt” badge on the Summer Challenge explore webpage and fill out the form. We’ll do the rest!
Not sure what code to use? Think about what you love most about the library and turn that into your code!
Not playing but still want to take part? You can still get a sign and help others earn points. Just email [email protected] and she’ll activate a code for your sign, or find the form here.
Why are the signs Awesome?
The more codes you find and log, the more points (and prizes!) you earn. Adults, after you log the first 10 points you get a prize! Kids, your first 10 points you get a free book and prize from the treasure chest. After your first points you can get a prize from the treasure chest every 10 points! And guess what? You can log as many yard sign codes as you want no limit!
If you have not signed up for Summer Challenge it’s not too late! All summer long you can register through our website or head to your primary YDL branch and they can sign you up!
Whether you’re walking the neighborhood, biking with friends, or spotting signs from the car, keep a lookout for those Summer Challenge yard signs. You never know where a secret code might pop up!
