On Saturday June 6th, YDL celebrated the start to the Summer Challenge with a kickoff party at YDL-Superior! We had over 300 people in attendance.
The event had both outdoor and indoor activities. Some highlights include the Ann Arbor Hands on Museum that came and brought crafts, science projects, and more. We had a bounce house and fun outdoor activities. It was wonderful seeing the excitement in the air for a summer of reading and activities at YDL.
The event was a success! We had 192 people sign up for the summer challenge and the branch was filled with laughter, joy, and families ready to read!
Missed the event and still want to join the Summer Challenge fun? It’s not too late to sign up. You can sign up with the link to this post or come to any YDL branch and the information desks will sign you up all summer long. After each sign-up kids earn a day pass to the Rutherford Pool in Ypsilanti and adults can get a sign-up prize from the adult treasure chest! There’s even a special prize of a tote and water bottle for adults 55+.
Once you have logged your first 10 points, youth can come and pick out a free book to take home and every 10 points after the first, they get a prize from our treasure chest. Adults can go to the adult information desk to get a fun summer themed gift bag.
For each book you log you earn one 1 point but that’s not all! You can earn one point for every YDL event you come to all summer. At events look for the secret code signs and enter on the app.
