Pick up a kit from the library, then get creative with paint and a tiny canvas and recreate your favorite CD or album covers in miniature!
ALBUM COVER ART
Before the first music video in 1981, album cover designs were the main way people connected images to the music on the records they bought. Now that most music is streamed digitally, we don’t always see the images that musicians created or chose for their albums.
Find an album cover – online or where you live – that speaks to you visually or musically, and start painting.
Original album cover.
Mini canvas painting!
Here’s a short sweet video of a teen painting the album cover of Remember Me by UMI to show you what to do.
NEED INSPIRATION?
Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon album has a triangle and a rainbow on a black background.
The Beatles White album just has the band’s name on a white background.
If you don’t have a favorite, you can also create your own album art. If you made music, what would your cover art look like?
Have fun painting, and share your art to Instagram and tag it with #YDLsummerchallenge to show off! We might ask you for permission to repost it on our teen Instagram account!
