As always, the Summer Challenge encouraged everyone to read, learn at the library, and explore the community. It’s especially designed to keep kids and families engaged in learning all summer so kids would be ready to return to school. Over 2,600 people participated, and half won a prize for earning 10 digital badges. Players logged 45,225 books in total, and 69 people actually logged over 150 books!
We’ll have a full report soon, but in the meantime, thank you to the businesses that supported the program:
- A grant from the Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor made sure all youth who earned 10 badges got to pick out a free book.
- The Friends of the Ypsilanti District Library helped fund adult prizes.
- Best In Games and Taco Bell made sure kids and teens had fun prizes to choose from in the treasure boxes at the Youth Department desk every time they earned another 10 badges.
