This year’s theme for National Library Week is “Find your joy,” and YDL is taking that VERY seriously.
When you visit the library during National Library Week from April 20-25, you may experience a random act of joyfulness! Each day, “joy spreaders” will be at each branch at random times handing out special YDL bumper stickers, books, posable wooden robots, and other fun prizes.
“You never know when the prizes will come out, so stop by and stay all day!” said Sam Killian, YDL’s Community Relations Coordinator.
In addition to the YDL Joy Spreaders, Aubree’s on Whittaker Road is hosting another Dine to Donate in support of YDL on Thursday during National Library Week (April 23). Pick up a flyer at any YDL branch (or download it online) and bring it to Aubree’s from 11am-10pm. Aubree’s will donate 20% of all carryout, dine-in, or delivery orders to YDL.
Each year, National Library Week celebrates everything that makes libraries great, and award-winning librarian, author, and the new host of Reading Rainbow Mychal Threets is this year’s Honorary Chair.
“Celebrating libraries, thanking library workers, visiting libraries is how I find my joy,” Threets said. “There are so many library kids and library grownups who have yet to fully embrace their library joy, and I am so excited for them!”
“Find Your Joy” is an invitation for people of all backgrounds to explore and discover what sparks joy in them at YDL. Discover your next favorite read, get support for your small business, or play Dungeons & Dragons. Using your library is supporting your library!
