national library week

Sunday, April 3—Saturday, April 9

It’s National Library Week—a celebration of the librarians, library workers, and patrons that make libraries a valuable resource for the whole country.

Sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA), National Library Week aims to promote library use and support.

The theme for 2022 is, “Connect with your library.”  This is a reminder that libraries can connect you with technology, information, classes, ideas, and people.

Get access to our digital resources, meet up with fellow book lovers in a book club, find the latest news about the Superior Library fundraising and construction, and more. Stay tuned for social media updates on what’s happening this week and see below for a breakdown of the week!

Monday, April 4: State of the Library

Read ALA’s State of America’s Libraries Report, including Top Ten Frequently Challenged Books of 2021.

Also, check out YDL’s annual report on highlights from 2020. The annual report for 2021 will be coming soon.

Tuesday, April 5: National Library Workers Day

Celebrate the valuable contributions of your local library workers! We love to hear from you, so send us a message of thanks or share the love on our Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter feeds.

Also, we encourage you to nominate a YDL employee as a stellar library worker!

Wednesday, April 6: National Library Outreach Day

It’s time to celebrate library outreach and the dedicated library professionals who are meeting our patrons where you are.

Even as we reopened our doors, we’ve maintained many of the programs we used to reach you in the community. We’re continuing our curbside pickup, and our homebound service for seniors. The Bookmobile is back on the road with expanded service coming soon.

Thanks for staying with us and celebrating a return to normal with us.

Thursday, April 7: Take Action for Libraries Day

Let’s rally advocates to support our nation’s libraries! Share your library story on social media using the hashtag #LibrariesStrong. Follow us on TwitterFacebook, and Instagram, to keep up with the latest happenings at the library.

Also, be sure to follow the American Library Association, and I Love Libraries on social media.
