Play Bigger! Enjoy the new giant dollhouse at YDL-Whittaker

Create new worlds at YDL-Whittaker with the new dollhouse in the Youth Department. The four-story structure is located by the rotating toy area, and stocked with furniture and other items to keep your little ones occupied for hours! The Beal family donated the dollhouse to YDL in 2023, and our Youth Librarian Liz spent a year restoring and resurfacing it to get it ready for action. A new garden is coming to the Superior branch, built with a grant from the Ann Arbor Farm and Garden Club. In this learning garden, we’ll hold fair-weather programs, learn together about horticulture, and taste the results of gardening efforts. This accessible space, with raised beds at three different heights, will host a variety of vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers that will be used in library programs throughout the growing season. The library is OPEN! YDL’s newest branch held its Grand Opening on November 14, welcoming hundreds of excited visitors through the doors for the first time. A week of Grand Opening programs followed, drawing more excited crowds. In the first three months, the library has had over 7,000 visitors and launched many activities for the community. Our first storytime series ran from January 10-February 16, with weekly sessions for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. Meeting Room

This is our large meeting room. It is used for library programs such as the summer lunch program, computer classes, storytimes, teen advisory group, and homework help. It is also reservable for free by members of the community for non-commercial educational events. State of the art technology will allow group videoconferencing and hybrid library programs. Attached to the meeting room is the kitchenette, provided with funding by the Children’s Foundation. Our summer lunch program, Lunch, Listen, and Learn, will allow us to serve food through the window to kids ages 0-18. Superior Tour Homepage Next: Digital Events Display
